An Overview

The Shire of Castlemere is a chapter of the "Society for Creative Anachronism" in the kingdom of Trimaris, otherwise known as Jacksonville, Florida, with members in the Duvall, Nassau, St. Johns, and Clay Counties.

"The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more." (http://www.sca.org)

Castlemere holds competitions yearly to highlight some of the members of our Shire's talents. These Competitions also include the quarterly/biannual Braging Rights Tournaments for both Heayvy and Light fighting.

2012 Castlemere Notables

Cornerstones of Castlemere Lord Drake & Lady Egalina This token is presented by the shire every year in February at our anniversary event, "Cutlasses and Corsairs". It is voted on by shire members during the month of February; Two people, male and female, are chosen as the two people that have made the biggest contribution to the shire during the year. Champion Tourney (Heavy Weapons Champion) Lord Fasti Champion of Castlemere - A Tourney is run annually, lead by the past year's champion, and the winner becomes Castlemere's Champion for the next year. Defender Tourney (Light Weapons Champion) Champion: Brennon the Misguided Yeomen Competition (Archer Champion) Lord Fasti Inn Hugprudti Davvidsson (maintaining) Winner of the Tavern Brawl: Lord Innes

Bard of Castlemere Brennon the Misguided (Song) Bards may present original, with the SCA, the Medieval era or the Renaissance. The first duty of the Bard of Castlemere is to help judge the Warrior Bard competition. The winner is encouraged to wear the baldric proudly, and return next year to run the competition. The competition is held at Cutlassesand Corsairs each year. The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of a guitar (donated by Angus Armstrong) for the year they stand as bardic champion. Warrior Bard of Trimaris Aldis The competition is open to any Trimarian that wishes to represent our kingdom as Warrior Bard (planning to attend Gulf Wars and encourage the troops would be a good aspiration for the Warrior Bard). The Warrior Bard is open to anyone attending the event. Entries should deal with some aspect of the Warrior's life (example: heroes, battles, loving a warrior, training, tall stories, loyalty, knightly virtues) It can original or created by someone else. If an entrant uses someone else's work they must name the source. The winner is encouraged to wear the baldric proudly, and return next year to run the competition. The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of the Sword of the Warrior Bard of Trimaris (donated by Angus Armstrong). Shield Tourney (Youth Champion) Champion: Nicholas of Starhaven The winner of this competition becomes the bearer of the Youth Champion Shield. When passed, the old winner signs their name to it.
