Hospitaller
A Hospitaller is the officer who acts as the Welcome Wagon. They help introduce new
participants into the SCA by not only introducing them to experienced members, but also by
teaching them about SCA and Kingdom traditions, customs and rules and helping new

Demo Coordinator
Demos are public exhibits of our martial arts and our arts and sciences that we have
learned in SCA. The main demo is the educational sort, in which we come to a school or
community group (i.e. Boy Scouts, schools, etc) for an hour or two and explain a bit about

The Minister of Arts and Sciences is charged with fostering the Arts and
Sciences at the local level. Responsibilities include: Arranging local classes on a wide
variety of topics, assisting Shire members through the process of entering projects in
competition, encouraging the sharing of knowledge among members, & reporting

Youth Combat Marshal
The Youth Combat Marshal's office is responsible for overseeing the combat related
activities in the Shire for our youth between the age of 6 and 17 years of age - both male
and female. Participation in youth combat requires compliance with special armor and
weapons standards, as well as the presence of the parent or legal guardian during all
tournaments and scenarios in which the youth participates. Pending

charge of providing educational activities for the children of the Shire and Dean of the
"Shire of Castlemere Youth Academy for Pages & Maids". Youth activities are
not a babysitting service and do not relieve the parents of their responsibilities.

Chirurgeon
SCA Chirurgeons provide first aid at Society events. (The word "Chirurgeon" is a
medieval term from which the modern "Surgeon" is derived.) Members of the
SCA Chirurgeonate include Red Cross trained first aiders, medical doctors, military
medical corpsmen, nurses, paramedics, and many other medical volunteers. Vacant

The shire is looking for free/cheap place near Jacksonville to hold practice archery,
